The Adjustable Side License Plate Bracket is a GLEAMING WORKS bracket for relocating the license plate of the Sportster (XL) to the side of the bike. The plate base can be mounted either vertically or horizontally.
This page covers fitting the bracket and plate base, wiring the LED license plate light bolts, and connecting them to the stock harness.
01 Fitting the bracket and plate base

Attach the supplied bracket to the fender strut. Place a small washer between the bracket and the fender strut.
With the detachable setup, place the stock collar in between. When installing with the detachable setup, move the turn signal aside and install the bolt.

Attach the plate base to the bracket installed in Chapter.01.

To set the plate base rearward, use the supplied bracket and secure it with "3-point mounting."

Attach the plate base (can be mounted vertically or horizontally).

Secure it at 4 points with the supplied bolts and nuts.

Secure the license plate together with it using the LED bolts.

Connect the LED bolt wiring to the harness and you're done.
02 Wiring
Connect the supplied harness to the stock taillight and license plate light coupler. Connect red to the harness + and black to -. Connect the license plate light's white wire to red and black to black.
For the supplied license plate light bolts (black: ground / white: positive), install the male bullet connectors and covers after mounting the bolts on the license plate.
03 Connecting to the stock harness
You can choose from the following three methods to connect to the stock side.
Connecting with the stock terminals: Remove the stock terminals from the coupler, fit the supplied terminals to the wires and insert them into the coupler.
Cutting the stock harness and connecting with bullet connectors: Cut the harness and connect it with the supplied bullet connectors.
Connecting to the stock harness with wire tap connectors and bullet connectors: Connect using the supplied wires, wire tap connectors and bullet connectors. Clamp the wire tap connector onto the stock harness to create a branch.
When connecting with wire tap connectors, be careful not to short the coupler for the original license plate light.
After wiring, check that the taillight and license plate light work correctly. If you are unsure about installing it yourself, please have the work done by someone with the proper knowledge or by a custom shop. If you have any questions, please contact us via our contact form.
