What you'll learn in this article
  • How mounting the mirrors on the front fork works
  • Why the mirror stem is cut and rethreaded
  • Installation steps using a clamp turn signal bracket

Following the swap to clamp mirrors (mirror swap article), here's a way to make the handlebar look even cleaner. The idea is to take the mirrors off the handlebar entirely and mount them on the front fork.

All it takes is a mirror of your choice combined with a clamp turn signal bracket. The result is a bold silhouette with nothing above the handlebar.

01 The choice to mount them on the fork

mirror and clamp turn signal bracket are combined to mount the mirror on the front fork. With only the grips, levers and switches left on the handlebar, it looks exceptionally light.

02 The key is modifying the mirror stem

If the mirror stem is left at full length, vibration while riding increases. So the stem is cut where the bend ends and rethreaded into a straight piece before use.

POINT

For mounting together, an M10-1.25 nut is always required.

Notes

Rethreading requires machining equipment and skill, so it's difficult to do at home. Rethreaded sections are also prone to rust. Please contact us for details about the modification.

03 Installation steps

  1. Install the clamp turn signal bracket on the front fork.

  2. Using an M10-1.25 nut, mount the mirror stem together with the clamp of the clamp turn signal bracket. This completes the base for the fork clamp mirror.

The handlebar looks amazingly clean. It's a perfect style for anyone who wants to put a simple look first.

Notes

Because the mirrors sit lower, rear visibility is worse than with regular mirrors. After installation, always check the view from your riding position.
