Installing the ARROW Cowling Kit (Sportster '04-'14): From Fitting the Brackets to the Screen
Installation steps for the ARROW Cowling Kit for the Sportster ('04-'14). Photos walk you through fitting the wing-shaped brackets and bracket, mounting the headlight and front cowl, and securing the screen and tightening everything down.

- Telling the left and right wing-shaped brackets apart (stamped L/R) and how to insert them
- Order of light, bracket, cowl, washer, and bolt
- Which screen bolts go where, and avoiding overtightening
The ARROW Cowling Kit fits a half cowl to the front of the Sportster ('04-'14). Wing-shaped brackets attach using the bolts at the front of the tank, and the headlight and cowl are fastened together.
Following the original steps, this page covers Chapter 01 (installing the brackets) and Chapter 02 (fitting the light and cowl).
01 Chapter 01: Installing the brackets
-
Remove the bolts at the front of the tank.

-
Insert the wing-shaped bracket on the outside, together with the triangular plate, using the included bolt.

-
The wing-shaped brackets are stamped L for the left side and R for the right side.

-
Fit the bracket on the other side the same way.

If a horn or similar is mounted there, it will need to be relocated.
If the bracket isn't fully seated, the bolt head won't reach, so push it all the way in (it's a little tight).
-
Insert the included bracket into the bike-side mounting bracket and bolt it in place (keep bolts loose).

-
Fit the cowl support bracket to the bike-side bracket (keep bolts loose).

02 Chapter 02: Fitting the light and cowl
-
Install the headlight. Thread the bolts in just a few turns and leave the washers loose.

-
Install the front cowl.

-
When installing the front cowl, make sure the parts line up in this order: light, bracket, cowl, washer, bolt.

-
Secure the bottom of the cowl to the wing-shaped brackets. Use the included M5 bolts for this.

-
Install the screen. The front holes are shared with the bracket, so use the longer bolts there (labels in the photo: M4 long bolt / M4 short bolt).

Be careful not to overtighten the screen bolts.
-
Set the cowl position while checking for handlebar interference and so on, then tighten all bolts down.

You may need to change the cable routing or similar. After final tightening, always check that everything is tight and nothing interferes when you turn the handlebar.
