Installing the Foot Brake KIT (APtrikes125): From Assembly to Rerouting the Hose
Installation steps for the Foot Brake KIT for the APtrikes125. We explain assembling the parts onto the base, securing it to the vehicle, rerouting the rear brake hose, and wiring when using a hydraulic brake switch.

- Assembling the master cylinder, pedal and reservoir onto the foot brake base
- Securing it to the vehicle and rerouting the rear brake hose
- Wiring position when using a hydraulic brake switch
The Foot Brake KIT lets you operate the APtrikes125's rear brake (the brake on the left of the handlebar) with a pedal at your feet.
This page shows the process from assembling each part onto the foot brake base to fitting it to the vehicle, rerouting the brake hose and bleeding the air. Because the work involves the brakes, always have it done by a shop with qualified mechanics.
01 Before you start
This product requires work on the brakes, so please have it installed by a shop with qualified mechanics.
02 Fitting the parts to the foot brake base
-
Fit the reservoir.

-
Connect the brake master cylinder rod to the brake pedal and secure it with a cotter pin.

-
Set the collar in the brake pedal and fit it to the base. Self-lubricating bushings are used, so grease isn't required.

-
With the included collars sandwiched between them, fit the brake master cylinder to the base using M6 bolts and washers (the photo shows it without washers, but please use them).

The brake master cylinder specification varies by production lot. With the gray master cylinder, the holes on the master cylinder go all the way through, so use M6-35mm bolts to fit it.
-
Push the hose onto the reservoir and brake master cylinder and secure it with clamps. The hose can be cut to any length (220mm as shipped is recommended).

03 Fitting the foot brake to the vehicle
-
Position the foot brake.

-
Secure it with the included self-drilling screws.

-
Remove the rear brake (the brake on the left of the handlebar) and its hose.

-
Route the removed brake hose down to the foot brake position.

-
Secure the brake hose with the banjo bolt or a hydraulic brake switch (sold separately).

Depending on the position of the foot brake, the hose may contact the cover. If it does, use rubber or another buffer material (sold separately).

-
Finally, bleed the brakes.

04 When using a hydraulic brake switch
If you use a hydraulic brake switch, connect it to the brake switch wiring under the seat (inside the left engine cover).

Depending on where you mount it, fix it with drill screws first, then install the pedal and other parts.
Explanations of the tools used and general wiring work are omitted. Due to variation between individual bikes, some minor adjustment or improvisation may be needed. If you're unsure about the installation, always have it done by someone knowledgeable or a custom shop. For questions or anything unclear, please contact us via the contact form.
