Installing the ARROW Cowling Kit (SR400/500): From Loosely Fitting the Brackets to Mounting the Gauges
Installation steps for the ARROW Cowling Kit for the SR400/500. We cover loosely fitting the lower cowl bracket and clamp, the assembly order for the headlight and cowl, fitting the screen, and mounting gauges on the gauge bracket.

- Loosely fitting each bracket and clamp, and the bolt sizes used
- Assembly order: light, bracket, cowl, washer, bolt
- How to mount φ80 and φ60 gauges on the gauge bracket
The ARROW Cowling Kit fits a front cowl around the headlight of the SR400/500. You loosely fit the brackets to the frame and neck, assemble the headlight, cowl, and screen in order, and then tighten everything down at the end.
Following the original's "Installation Steps," "Installation Steps 2," and "About the Gauges," this page covers the bolt sizes used and points to watch.
01 Installation steps
- Remove the fuel tank.
- Install the steering stopper. (Cap bolts M6-15mm x 2)
-
Loosely fit the lower cowl mounting bracket to the frame (image 1). (Hex bolt M6-120mm, washer M6 x 2, lock nut M6) Fit the bracket facing up. The bracket sits under the cowl.

-
Loosely fit the clamp to the neck (image 2). (Cap bolts M8-30mm x 2)

-
Loosely fit the headlight to the cowl bracket. Install the headlight (thread the bolts in just a few turns, leaving the washers loose).

-
Install the front cowl.

When installing the front cowl, make sure the parts line up in this order: light, bracket, cowl, washer, bolt.
02 Installation steps 2
- Adjust the left-right swing of the cowl bracket, line up the holes in the lower cowl bracket and the cowl, and loosely bolt the bottom of the cowl. (Button cap bolt M4-12, washer and lock nut M4)
- Check that the lower cowl bracket doesn't touch the tank, then tighten the lower cowl bracket and frame clamp. Tighten the light just enough that it can still move slightly. (The light is tightened last.)
-
Install the screen. The front holes are shared with the bracket, so use the longer bolts there.

- Install the tank and adjust so the handlebar doesn't hit anything.
- After connecting the wiring, aim the headlight and tighten the light and cowl bolts.
- Retighten everything, and you're done.
Be careful not to overtighten the screen bolts.
03 About the gauges
The included gauge bracket accepts the φ80 and φ60 gauges we carry. When mounting a φ60 gauge, sandwich the included M5 washers against the gauge bracket to give the bolts a proper seating surface.
